John Collins was born on 10 January 1783. Based upon 1850 Census He died on 15 June 1858 at Collins Family Cemetery in Madison Co, GA. The Collins connection to our family is of great interest. DNA indicates that our ancestor may have come from the Mac Giolla Ceallaighs who appear in southern Co Galway near Kinvara and Gort Ireland. In the 1834 Parish records we find many of the names that DNA connect our family to and we also find Collins living in that area at that time. I am going to suggest a radical new ideal about our family, that because DNA indicates that Thomas O'Kelley was not a brother but likely a cousin to Charles and Francis O'Kelley I am going to suggest that he was the son of Francis O'Kelly Esq of Gort Ireland whose daughter Mary O'Kelly married Richard Dillion in 1762 and Thomas and Mary were brother and sister. Thomas named his first born son Francis and he named on of his first two daughters Mary and she married John Collins whose family likely also came from the Kinvara Gort area of Ireland. I suspect that Thomas O'Kelley was born in Ireland, came to America and he is the source of Macon's belief that Thomas was our ancestor's name.
