2. William Jefferson O'Kelly was born on 29 April 1763 in Chatham CO, NC.³ He died on 20 December 1820 in Chatham CO, NC.³ 

I also suspect that William named his first born son, James Franklin O'Kelly after his father who was likely also named James O'Kelly.  A descendant of Leslie O'Kelly, Eloise Mullins, also claims his name was James Leslie O'Kelly.  You can download a full copy of Eloise Mullins Pedigree at this link.

William Jefferson O'Kelly and Mary Elizabeth Merritt were married on 27 March 1787 in Chatham CO, NC.³ They³ appeared in the census in 1820 in Chatham CO, NC.¹¹ Mary Elizabeth Merritt was born in 1767 in Chatham CO, NC. She was buried in 1853. 

William Jefferson O'Kelly and Mary Elizabeth Merritt had the following children:
